After winning the state Little League Tournament by default, the Cannon Street YMCA All-Stars, the state's only all-black team from segregated Charleston, South Carolina, was invited to the 1955 Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, but were not allowed to participate since they did not officially play to win their state's tournament.
